Rigging Mesh in Blender

This tutorial was made for 2.6x But when I tried it Blender would crash, that no longer happens when 2.7 is used.

On that note I would like to say that Clicking on the Mesh then the bones, then pressing Ctrl+P>Automatic Weights works better(sometimes) than this method shown in the video.
However with both methods you may have to fine tune it with additional bone weighting/Painting.
