Greetings.  I came across this forum after seeing Hydrastorm (previously, darkstorm I think) mentioned on a youtube channel.
 
I've been in SL for several years now, mostly building things on my sim or for myself.  I'm an artist/photographer with a background in television. I'm semi-retired, so I spend a lot of time in SL being creative. (Well, as much as my limited talent allows. heh)

Recently I've wanted to make clothes, hair and skins for the main mesh bodies and heads that are out there (rather than my own body/head creations), but I've hit the roadblock of not having access to dev kits from these creators.  I can't get them because I don't have a store; I don't have a store because I can't create for these mesh bodies.   So...

I'm not here to download items, or even use hydrastorm to copy stuff for my avatar and use it inworld.  Rather, I'm interested in using it to copy items I own so that I can take it into blender to use as a reference, and then create my own skins, hair, clothes/shoes and whatever else.  At least, I hope Hydrastorm will be of use in doing this, from what information I've read so far.
 
Anyway, that's about it.  I've been having a look around the forums, but I don't seem to be able to read some of the tutorial posts.  I think I need a higher post count, apparently.  Looking forward to sharing info, mesh and even my own creations once I learn more.

When downloading Collada/Mesh files you must have, at minimum, a general understanding dealing with mesh items and 3D software like Blender, Avastar, or other programs. Collada/Mesh/DAE files are not beginner-friendly. First, you must have an account in Second Life that will allow you to upload Mesh files, see here -->

** Items that are XML or OXP you can simply upload them into the game via XML import or Linkset import (for .oxp files). (Beginner Friendly) All the textures will upload with the item.

You can host your content on the forum up to 10mb by using the attachment option in your post.
