(This is not my work, got it off a competitor site, and could be benficial here.. Just changed so it's easiler)

When you put a marketplace link in your post, technically Linden Labs can read and analyze where the link came from. It is through the HTTP REFERRER that is sent along as you click a link anywhere upon this fourm. They could detect you, when your logged into marketplace, and you are using this board as well. When you open a link in a new window, you are safer, but many would be quick to click the link, and then complain that something happened.

You can protect and hide your identity by putting

? in front of the link.

For a example:

Or just goto their website, and use the URL shortner there!

There is other websites one can use, if you wish for me to name more.. Let me know!

Good infro! I was wondering about this too.

When posting shares on here, i was gonna use tinyurl or something like that to link the items in the MP because i was thinking that if they wanted to they would be able to see the "Insight" as to where people clicking the link were coming from..

Just like youtube can show you where people have came from to view your video..

But when you say "They could detect you, when your logged into marketplace, and you are using this board as well."
has me asking questions because usually people "like myself" are logged into everythig all the time with like 15 tabs open in our browser..
If it's in a new window or a new tab it could potentially be the same risk wouldn't it?

Now a days, with technology always improving, it could be the same risk. One simply does not know, nor should take the chance..
But it should be fine, having tons of tabs open.
