I often play SL with the viewer in wireframe mode so I can see how things are made, but can be difficult to inspect topology if there are too many items rezzed in a busy sim, and surely impossible to see how it has been wrapped, so I began ripping loads of dae and obj to my harddrive and playing with them in apps like Blender.

I've spent a good amount of time watching a lot of modelling tutorial videos for the past couple of years, further bettering my meshing skills.

If anyone has any question on the topic of meshes in SL, please post it up and I will do my best to help.

"sticky vertises between the legs" is what happens when verts are skinned (weight painted) to the wrong bone. This almost always happens if you attempt to use Blender/Avastar and Bind to Armature automatically. When verts traverse over the Y-axis, meaning a vert doesn't share the same side as its intended bone, you need a human to decide how those are going to be skinned, manually done to be exact.

Complex meshes like long skirts, asymetric dresses, and very baggy outfits, will require a true test of rigging skills.

What program do you recommend for creating mesh?
I'm somewhat knowledgeable with Blender, but that's about it.
Thanks :D

I know Marvelous Designer allows you to import a SL avatar, so you can make clothes for it.
