Quote:A day after Mr. Tyson had a high-profile meeting with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, CP24 news anchor Nathan Downer asked him: “Some of your critics would say, ‘There’s a race for mayor. We know you’re a convicted rapist. This could hurt his campaign.’ How would you respond to that?”
“You’re the only one I’ve heard say that,” Mr. Tyson said. “I don’t have no comment to that, because it’s negative. You’re being negative.
“You come across like a nice guy,” Mr. Tyson said to Mr. Downer, “but that was really a piece of s–t, that comment. F— you.”
Mr. Downer reminded Mr. Tyson they were on live TV.
“I don’t care. What are you going to do about it?” Mr. Tyson said. His handler attempted to steer the interview elsewhere — to the subject of Mr. Tyson’s upcoming one-man show at the Air Canada Centre — but the diversion didn’t succeed for long and Mr. Downer was forced to cut the interview short. He thanked Mr. Tyson for coming to the studio.
“F— you,” Mr. Tyson can be heard saying at the end of the interview — footage of which circulated widely online on Wednesday.
